1/16/2013 · F01 means that your main relay control board for the dryer has an internal short inside itself. If you pull the dryer forward and remove the screws coming in from the back of the top panel, the top panel will pull straight back, up, and off. The control board is mounted to the left side panel over top the drum.

The manual says that my MEDZ600TB2 requires a electronics control replacement however it shows two electronic controls in the dryer (atleast). There is one that has all the buttons on the front with the turn knob, then it looks like there is a small rectangle box mounted inside the unit as well.
Maytag dryer error code f01. This error code indicates a serious problem, which is not a DIY one at all. It means that the main relay control board is down and, most likely, needs to be replaced. It will take a bit of research, because you will need the full model number. It is printed on a sticker inside the door way.
Fix was very easy. Remove cover on top of dryer and 2 screws on bracket holding control board. Unplug wires from old board and install new one. Took about 10 min. Ordered part on Sunday and it was delivered to my house Wed. morning. Couldn’t ask for better service.
“F# E#” ( F1 E1, F3 E1, etc.) variable service codes . The dryer is in need of service. If a code beginning with an “F” appears in the display. Alternating between F# and E#, the dryer control has detected a problem that requires service. Call for service.
